Kanazawa Machiya Stay
- Living like a local in the former geisha district -

On the surface of the Asanogawa River, Kazuemachi, a Chaya district reflects.
Take a side street and you will find yourself in Izumi Kyoka’s fascinating world.
Kuragari-zaka (literally ‘gloomy slope’), Kagi-koji (‘hooked alley’), and Fukuro-koji (‘dead end’) create a labyrinth with the atmosphere of old-fashioned neighborhood.
With the sight of And on (a traditional Japanese lantern) flickering behind Bengara Goshi (the red old-fashioned Japanese lattices), you hear the sound of shamisen from somewhere.
If you stay at a machiya (a traditional Japanese urbane house), you can learn something about tradition and culture of Kanazawa.
